Legendary fashion photographer Guy Bourdin, whose career spanned 40 years, made an enormous impact on both photography and commercial fashion with “Sighs and Whispers,” his famous layout of a Bloomingdales 1976 lingerie catalog. Bourdin’s work for the upscale department store drew its influence from British, French, and Italian issues of Vogue, to which he contributed work for more than three decades.
