LADY GAGA – IMAGINE

Monday, November 16th, 2009

If you haven’t already seen Lady GaGa’s performance at the recent HRC  National Equality Dinner, or if you simply want more proof that she’s an incredible performer, here it is for your viewing pleasure. I have to admit that Lady GaGa used to irritate the hell out of me, but since my initial disdain I’ve taken the time to watch her live and have — dare I say it — become a fan. A huge fan. In this performance, rather uncharacteristically for a celebrity, she chose to promote something bigger than herself (not that she needs much promotion, of course). Instead of singing one of her own songs, she chose John Lennon’s “Imagine,” changing the lyrics ever so slightly to support the gay-rights march of which she was recently a part. I’m not sure GaGa has much sway when it comes to repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” but if her support goes even a little way to helping bring that day closer, I’m sure many will be thankful.
